FAQ & smart prep

Rules are checked against IRCC and the official organisers (Oct 2026). Always confirm on the official sites before booking.

À faire ✅

  • Take a full timed mock test early to find your weakest skill.
  • Study the official format of YOUR exam version (TEF Canada / TCF Canada).
  • Listen to French daily: news, podcasts, YouTube — at natural speed.
  • Learn connectors (cependant, en revanche, par conséquent) and use them in writing.
  • Record yourself speaking for 3–5 minutes and replay it.
  • Write by hand or type to the word count and time limit.
  • Learn topics: work, housing, health, environment, technology, immigration.

À éviter ❌

  • Don't memorise full essays — examiners spot recited text instantly.
  • Don't translate word by word from English (watch the faux amis!).
  • Don't ignore your weakest skill — NCLC requirements are per skill.
  • Don't leave multiple-choice answers blank — there's no penalty for guessing in the MCQ sections; check your exam's rules.
  • Don't rely only on apps — you need real exam-length practice.
  • Don't book the exam without checking result validity for your application.
